Movie History
Little is reallly known about Wolverine's history in the movies. All we really know is that he has been wandering around for 15 years with no memory of what happened to him and his only sleep is plagued by nightmares. Presumably he's been around everywhere trying to piece together his lost life, hopefully it will be revealed to him in time.
